Mobile food testing van in Siddipet
Siddipet: The mobile food testing van ‘Food Safety on Wheels’ reached Siddipet and is garnering a lot of attention. The mobile testing vans were first introduced in Gujarat with an aim to facilitate testing of food items. The vans are equipped with testing tools that can easily complete the work and provide results within no time.
The authorities brought this vehicle to Siddipet to test the food on roads. In Siddipet district the authorities went to several sweet shops and fruit shops to test the food. An official said that the vehicle is equipped with a lab and would conduct tests for adulteration in milk, water, edible oils and other items. There is enough equipment that can be used to do spot analysis and deliver instant reports.
The authorities also gave the awareness of healthy and hygienic eating food habits to the citizens in the city. They can identify the chemical foods by testing in 66 different types on the spot in the Food safety Wheels.
“For one kg banana, they can use 0.01 ppm ethylene gas to ripen the bananas and sell it in the market. Instead of ethylene if they use ethopas chemical to ripen the bananas we can identify it by testing on wheels within ten minutes,” says district food inspector, Ravinder Rao. The van costs Rs 41 lakh and would move around the district to spread awareness about food safety, hygiene and healthy eating habits.
