Heavy rain lashes Vikarabad dist
Vikarabad: Heavy rains coupled with gales lashed Vikarabad and neighbouring areas on Friday evening, throwing normal life out of gear in many parts of the district. The Meteorological department predicted thunderstorms with heavy rain to lash all TS districts on Saturday also, as the upper air cyclonic circulation over west- central and its adjoining north-west Bay of Bengal lies over north-west Bay.
Commuters had a tough time due to the sudden rainfall and most of them were drenched while running for shelters. Several roads connecting the villages were waterlogged and the transport was affected. Nawabpet village witnessed a good spell of rain. Farmers who were expecting the showers to commence the agriculture season elated with the rain. Farmers who already sown the seeds were tense doubting arrival of the rain. Mostly seeds of green gram, black gram and other pulses were sown by many farmers in the district expecting abundant rain fall.
The recent climate, which was hot and humid made them to think that this agricultural season would also a tough one for them. Though met department predicted the rains after Sunday, the early showers brought smiles on their faces. The rain water emptied into the nearby streams and rivulets making merrier to the farming community. The change in climatic conditions provided the relief to people, who have been experiencing the sultry weather for some time.
