Massive tuition fee hike leaves parents in shock
Vikarabad: Tuition fee in aided educational institutions has been hiked by not less than five times this year, compared to the last year, making education as a sour grapes for the poor. State government permitted the aided colleges to convert their courses into self-financed courses instead of hiking the tuition fee of the courses.
The hiked fee sent shivers down the spine of the rural students. They are in a quandary whether to join the private colleges or the aided colleges? Parents and students have been expressing displeasure over the five- fold hike of the tuition free from Rs 4,625 to Rs 20,000.
Last year, the tuition fee for B Com for a government-aided private college was Rs 4,000, it now increased to Rs 20,000. Similarly, the college offered BA course last year for Rs 3,000. According to the college authorities, the commissioner of college education and Telangana Council for Higher Education permitted the aided college to convert their courses into self-finance courses when the college requested them to hike the tuition fee. This year, over 5,000 students passed Inter requiring admission in government degree colleges. They are worried about payment of over Rs 20,000 as the tuition fee.
