Open-mosque elicits good response

Rajendranagar: This year’s Eid-Milaap with the theme ‘visit the mosque’ being organised first time in the city drew good response from general public as well as the local leaders. The Jamaat-e-Islami Hind organised this programme in about 10 mosques across the city. 

In Rajendranagar, MLA T Prakash Goud, who was chief guest and several other local leaders and general public attended the programme which was organised at a mosque in Suncity. Imtiaz Ahmed, Director of Islamic Information Centre explained in Telugu about the importance of mosque and tried to alleviate the misunderstandings about various facets of Islam.  

Following successful try-out in Mohammedia Masjid in Kakatiya Nagar in Tolichowki on June 17, the JIH organised similar programme in Madina Masjid (Khairatabad), Ibrahim, Hibbatual Jabbar, Mukarram Ali Masjids (Yakutpura), Omar bin Khattab Masjid (Khilwat), Ujalshah (Sultan Shahi), Shams Baig (Komatwadi) Masjids near Charminar and Al-Khair Masjid (Borabada) on Sunday. In the coming week, the JIH will be organising similar programmes in more than 10 other mosques across the City. According to organisers, with this initiative they will be hoping to clear apprehensions about mosques amongst fellow citizens who follow other faiths. 

Hafiz Mohammed Rashaduddin city president JIH Greater Hyderabad informed the initiative which was taken up the by the organisation will help reduce the doubts about the mosque and Islamic practices amongst non-Muslims and to develop better understanding about each other’s faith for communal amity. “We shall be inviting non-Muslim brothers formally by handing over invitation cards. We will explain about how namaz is performed, apart from ablution and meaning of Azaan and other aspects to clear apprehensions, if any raised by them in an interactive programme,” he said.
