Giant tortoise pair from Seychelles, a new attraction at zoo
Bahadurpura: A pair of Al Dabra giant tortoise which were gifted to President of India by President of Seychelles has found its place in Nehru Zoological Park. This will be the latest attraction in this category and second only to its cousins, the Galapagos tortoises in its size.
Aged about 20-years, the pair was received from Raymond A Brioche, chief executive officer, Botanical Gardens, Seychelles, by the director and curator of Nehru Zoological Park, after it was gifted by President of Seychelles, Danny Faure, who is on a five-day visit to India.
Describing the maintenance of zoo as remarkable, Raymond during his visit appreciated the cleanliness and hygiene by the authorities. Dr, Sidhanand Kukretty, director, Zoo Parks (TS), Shivani Dogra, curator, Nehru Zoological Park, and Syed Maqsood Mohiuddin , ACF, Nehru Zoological Park, expressed gratitude to Raymond for gifting their endemic species to the zoo.
