Vikarabad revised voters list sees increase in electorate

Vikarabad:  The total number of rural voters in the district are 5, 71,110 as against 5, 68,908 after the revision of the voters’ list and the total number of BC voters is 3, 10,392. The number of SC voters is 1, 26,823 while the ST voters is 67,949.  The number of other voters is 65,949. 

The number of male voters is more than that of female voters. Compared to the SC voters, the number of ST voters is high. The reservation for the forthcoming panchayat elections will be finalised on the basis of the district population in the 2011 census. 

Caste wise the number of voters is calculated. On the basis of the number of voters, category wise the total number of reserved gram panchayats will be notified. Training has been conducted for teachers 167 each in stage-1 and stage-2. There are a total of 72 returning officers. 

The panchayat elections will be held in three phases, according to the officials. There are two revenue divisions, 18 mandals and 565 gram panchayats. A total of 4,850 polling booths will be set up for the purpose of the panchayat elections. 

A total of 6,000 officers and government employees are required for successful conduct of the elections.  So far, 3,000 ballot boxes reached here. The district administration is under taking repairs to the ballot boxes to keep them ready for the elections. 

The RDOs of Tandur and Vikarabad have been saddled with the resonsibily of finalizing reservations for gam panchayats in the district.   They are busy finalizing quota community wise. 

Of the total number of voters, the number of males is 288264, while the number of females is 282846. The total number of BC voters is 3, 10,392, including 1, 53,888. The number of ST voters is 67, 949 including 32,961 females. The number of ST voters in the district is 1, 26,823 ST including 63,798.
