Four fake babas held for extortion

Meerpet: Sleuths of Meerpet police nabbed four fake babas for extortion and seized property worth 16.5 lakh including 50 tolas of gold, 1 kg of silver and net cash of Rs 1 lakh at Balapur Cross Roads on Wednesday. 

Based on a complaint by a farmer Bukka Ram Reddy (48), a resident of Badangpet village in Balapur, the police swung into action and apprehended the accused persons. The two arrested Eernala Vasu (34) and Turapati Sathakoti (31) resided at Musheerabad and claimed to be astrologers, police said. The identities of other accused are yet to be ascertained.
