Bahadurpura: A worried mother who married off her daughter to a Saudi Arabian national about 25 years ago sought intervention of the External Affairs Ministry to rescue her from the clutches of her old-aged husband who allegedly barred her from returning back to India, in spite of her deteriorating health there.

In the letter addressed to Sushma Swaraj, Union External Affairs Minister, Fatima Begum of Bahadurpura explained that Maryam Bee was married to Haleel Bin Mustar Iba Dukhul Allah Asimi, a Saudi national in 1993. Even though Maryam Bee gave birth to seven children, she was not allowed to visit India to meet her parents.

She has been kept in a house in Ruweda Raiad, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and not allowed to go out from the house and speak to his family members in Hyderabad. “Since last year, she has fallen ill with high Blood Pressure and Chest pain and being denied any medical attention wants to return back to Hyderabad, India but not being allowed to return back by her husband.

Kindly interfere in this matter and ask the Indian Embassy in Riyadh to rescue her as soon as possible,” she stated in her letter. MBT leader, Amjedullah Khan has requested the Ministry of External Affairs to consider her request and interfere in the matter on humanitarian grounds.
