Plea to provide quota for ABCD categories of BCs in local polls
Musheerabad: State secretary of MBCs Association, Pailla Ashayya on Thursday urged the TRS government to provide for reservations to ABCD categories of BCs in elections to the local bodies.
Addressing a press conference at Sundarayya Vignana Kendram organised by the State committee, he stated that following a PIL filed in the AP High Court seeking a directive to the State to issue orders on ABCD categorisation of BCs, the government was asked to file a counter within two weeks. He thanked the court on behalf of the TRS for the directive.
Ashayya pointed out that only six-seven BC communities, out of 112, were enjoying 75 per cent of the posts in the local bodies. He said the repeated pleas of the MBCs in this regard were ignored. The MBC Association leader appealed to the government to provide a share in political power to nomadic tribes. Among those present were State MBC leaders Gummadi Raju, Naresh, L Mallayya, Chennaram Mallesh, Bhumpalli Ashok, Kathoju Ramachary, Nagesh.
