Kodandaram receives warm welcome at Eid Milap
Hyderabad: It was kind of festive mood for the new members of Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS) while welcoming the party chief Prof M Kodandaram who came to attend the Eid Milaap in the Santoshnagar Area on Sunday. Several youngsters joined the party in the presence of the ideologue who played a key role in the Telangana movement.
The youth who recently joined the party eagerly awaited his arrival for hours near I S Sadan X roads. Later, flanked by these enthusiastic youth Kodandaram entered the hall amidst traditional beats of marfa, while walking along with them for few metres from the main road. The festive mood reflected when some of the youth as well as a senior citizen danced to the beats of marfa before entering into the meeting hall.
Later, delivering his speech, Kodandaram explained that the reason behind formation his party was to ensure the purpose of formation of separate State of Telangana is fulfilled. He said that in spite of huge revenue collection, the State government was not spending on the welfare of the population and unemployment problem remained as it was before achievement of the State. “Even after formation of separate Telangana, the State government was generating Rs 1 lakh crore in terms of revenue. This could have spent on improving quality of crores of people and if not generation of new employment, the government could have filled in the vacancies,” he said.
While referring to the delay in the promises on housing, TJS chief said that the last Nizam with his foresight had provided housing to people under the aegis of City Improvement Board. He said that even though the present State government had promised during elections, it was sitting on the thousands of acres of land which could have been utilized for this purpose.
Kodandaram alleged that the government was benefitting contractors through various projects, including Mission Bhagiratha and also the much hyped Kaleshwaram project whose estimate was now revised to Rs 90,000, when it was actually Rs 25,000. “When it is Rs 1,000 crore of a project the TRS government was showing the cost as Rs 10,000, while helping the contractors,” he noted. The programme was organised by local Jana Samithi Leaders, Muqtaar Siddique, Mohd Razi and Minhaj Qureshi. While Prof Vishweshwar Rao, Mohd Baderuddin, newly joined leader Qavi Abbasi and others attended the programme.
