All set for Haritaharam implementation in Zaheerabad from today
Zaheerabad: All set for the implementation of the fourth phase of the Harita Haram programme in Zaheerabad Assembly constituency from July 3. Eight lakh pits are being dug to plant saplings as part of the programme in Zaheerabad, Mogudampalli, Koheer, Jharasangam and Nyalakalmandals.
MPDOs, NREGS officials and personnel, village secretaries are busy getting the pits dug up for the event. Two lakh plants have been kept ready in the two nurseries in Sekhapur village of Mogudampalli mandal, assistant panchayat officer Mattam Raj Kumar said. Another two lakh are kept ready at the nurseries in Jharasangam and Bidakanna villages, he added. The two nurseries in Nyalakal cater to the needs of two lakh saplings, while the two nurseries at Picheryagadi village of koheermandal caters to the need of another two lakh plants.
Various species of plants have been kept ready including teak, lime, gulmohar, almond, bamboo, tamarind, papaya, black jamoon, guava and neem for the purpose. Orders have been issued to officials of government departments for their participation in the massive plantation drive. The programme has been delayed on account of late arrival of the monsoons.
The officials have been making all arrangements to implement the drive on a massive scale provided the region experiences one or two heavy rains, he said. Lok Sabha member from Zaheerabad BB Patil, legislator Geeta Reddy, member of the legislative council Farid and other leaders will take part in the programme.
