Vikarabad:  District Collector Omar Jaleel directed officials to identify suitable places for planting the saplings as part of the annual plantation drive Haritha Haram and start digging pits in two days.

Reviewing the arrangements for the programme with the DRDO and DFO at his chambers here on Tuesday, he said planting of the saplings should begin as and when rains occur and wanted all government departments to fulfill their targets for planting the saplings.

He wanted officials to complete pits digging work by July 10. In rural areas, he said, the officials should use services of self-help groups and utilise the services of vana sevaks to nurse the plants.

He asked the officials to take steps to plant saplings in schools, hostels, college campus, on the premises of industrial units, burial grounds, Eidgah grounds, Masjids and so on.

Joint Collector Aruna Kumari, DRDO Johnson, DFO Venu Madhav, RDOs Viswanadham and Venumadhava Rao and other district officials took part in the programme.
