Teachers transfers affecting academics in many schools in Vikarabad

Vikarabad:  The teachers’ transfer has affected the academic work in various schools in the district. In Daultabad, a student is taking classes at a primary school.

The Urdu medium school at Sarpanpalli, which has just 21 students, was run last year with the help of education volunteers.

In the absence of appointing the volunteers this year, the school is being run with the help of the community resource persons.

In Basheerabad mandal, as many as 70 schools are at the mercy of the educational volunteers. At Jeevangi, the school is being run by a single teacher who applied for transfer.

In fact, 25 per cent of the schools are single teacher schools in the district.  As it would take some more time to appoint teachers, the schools have to wait.  Parents are worried over the future of their wards as no teachers have been appointed and also the educational volunteers in them. The education system in all the 18 mandals is being run by the educational volunteers derailing the system.

Of the 1024 schools in the district, only 173 have full time teachers. Over 851 educational volunteer posts remained vacant.

In Parigi, Tandur and Kodangal constituenices, schools in 367 panchayats which are supposed to be run by the educational volunteers are being run by the community resource persons and teachers of Bhavita centres.

The students also seem to have lost interest as the teachers appointed to teach them are only temporary. Even one month after starting the schools, there are no signs of appointment of teachers and education volunteers, it is alleged.

According to some of the teachers, the education in the schools where the transfer process is under way will take at least one month to resume normal academic activity.
