Hyderabad: As per the Solid Waste management Rules, 2016, all the Bulk Garbage Generators (BGGs) producing 50 Kgs of waste per day have to install composting machines at their premises to process the wet waste.

Accordingly, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) will recognize all the organisations like hotels, restaurants, function halls, kalyana mandapams and banquet halls across the city, generating above 50 kgs of waste per day, as commercial BGGs. The GHMC has sent several notices to all the BGGs to install onsite compost machines on their premises and now as per the instructions of GHMC Commissioner, has set the dead line as August 15 for installing them.

For the convenience and ready reference, GHMC has published the list of all the empanelled agencies which deal with sale of all kinds of compost machines on the GHMC website (under announcements). In case any BGG fails to implement the same within the specified period of time, GHMC will enforce and may take necessary action against them. As GHMC is continuously striving to achieve better sanitation & solid waste management in the city, it is expected from all the BGGs to co-operate and undertake immediate required action in implementing the same.
