Bahujan bodies come out in support of Kathi

Say the police action against the film critic is an attack on dalits

Musheerabad: The Society Against Caste Discrimination and Dalit Bahujan Associations, which organised a roundtable conference on Tuesday at Sundarayya Vignana Kendram described the externment of film critic Kathi Mahesh as ostracization, while opposing it.

The speakers, who included Prof. Rama Melkote, Devi, social activists, Pasunuri Ravinder, Central Sahitya Academy awardee, appealed to the Bahujan Left Front, MRPS and Mala Mahanadu to join forces for opposing the police action. 

The speakers favoured formation of a joint action committee in support of Kathi. They called for a protest rally on Wednesday from Liberty crossroads to Ambedkar statue with active participation by Dalit-Bahujans.

The conference felt that the police action against Kathi was an attack on Dalits.

It demanded filing of a case in the AP High Court against Swamy Paripurnanda and registration of a case under the SC, ST Atrocities (prevention) Act against him.

It resolved to continue the agitation by Dalits and Bahujans until the externment of the film critic was lifted.
