Women in flesh trade told to utilise welfare schemes: Additional DCP Narasimha Reddy
Kukunoorpally: Additional DCP Narasimha Reddy held a counselling for the women of red-light area on the outskirts of Kodankandla village under the limits of Kukunoorpally police station in Kondapaka mandal.
The DCP advised a pack of hookers at the police station to give up the practice of prostitution and start a new life by utilising the welfare schemes by the government. The department will help them for the transformation of their lives by government schemes such as pension for single or estranged women with the help of the district Collector and admit their children in government schools, said the officer to the women from the red-light area.
The streetwalkers were told to leave their profession for the sake of their children to protect them from terminal diseases like HIV/ AIDS and provide financial assistance for the self employment in tailoring, Kirana shops from the department of mother and child welfare with the submission of Aadhaar card numbers, said the DCP during the counselling session. In-charge ACP of Gajwel and Husnabad Division Mahendar, Thoguta CI Niranjan, Kukunoorpally ASI Shankar Reddy and other police personnel were also present at the programme.
