Contract staff to hold ‘Shankharaavam’ on July 15
Musheerabad: The Telangana State Government Contract and Outsourcing Employees’ Federation on Thursday announced holding of ’shankaravam’ meeting in Hyderabad on Sunday to press its demand for increased salaries with effect from July 1. The other demands include regularisation, job security and scrapping of contract agencies.
Holding a press conference here, leaders of the federation, G Saidulu, J Krishna Reddy, J Kumaraswamy and J Venkatesh said that 2.45 lakh contract and outsourcing employees were working in over 45 departments and 160 wings of the government offering services to 3.72 crore people. They accused the then unified State of neglecting the employees’ regularisation by the eighth and ninth PRCs.
The leaders pointed out that after the formation of Telangana the government had increased salaries of the permanent employees from 2014 but failed to do in the case of contract and outsourcing staff from February 2016, a delay of 18 months. They claimed that even GO 14 was not being implemented for 80 per cent of the staff and that the 11 PRC was silent on their salaries.
