Seminar focuses on high temperature, aero-engine materials
Khairatabad: The Institution of Engineers (India) IEI, Telangana State Centre organised all India seminar on “Advances in Metallurgy and Manufacturing Process” on Friday. The chief guest Dr K Bhanu Sankara Rao, Ministry of Steel, Chair Professor, MGIT, Hyderabad addressed the gathering on advanced materials like super alloys and ceramics.
A greater attention was given on high temperature, advanced and aero engine materials. New advances in the production methods like vacuum induction melting, electro slag defining and vacuum ARC refining along with its challenges were discussed.
Dr G Padmanabham, director, International Advanced Research Centre for Powder Metallurgy and New Materials, Hyderabad, defined additive manufacturing and brought to light the various materials used for additive manufacturing like metals, plastics, smart structures. Metal additive manufacturing was highlighted, and attention was given on the production methods and its challenges.
Dr S Satyanarayana, FIE, chairman, IEI, Dr G Madhusudhan Reddy, FIE, outstanding scientist, DMRL and chairman, technical committee, Dr G Rameshwara Rao, FIE, hon secretary, IEI, TSC and Er M Koteswara Rao, MIE, convener and others were present during the seminar.
