Digital depository for school leaving certificates soon

Koti: If everything goes according to plan, a digital depository for School Leaving Certificates, college degree, academic awards and mark sheets on the pattern of a securities depository would be established. This was mentioned at the workshop on National Academic Depository at University College for Women here on Monday. 

Prof G Gopal Reddy said that Osmania University has taken the initiative and approved the agreement to be a part of the NAD and that the other state universities should follow the suit. Once established it would help validate their authenticity, safe storage and easy retrieval. The speakers emphasized on the academic depository system and that the students may have some apprehensions initially but they would be the major beneficiaries of the scheme. 

Mohammed Haider, a representative of the Maulana Azad National Open University MANOU) proposed that there should be a uniform certification process that must be accessible all over the country. The officials said that the project is in its initial phase and it would bring a paradigm shift in the working of the distantly located open universities.
