Tandur:  The TRS and MIM councilors’ move to move a no-confidence motion against the Municipal chairperson Sunita Sampath petered out on technical grounds.

The technicalities poured cold water on the aspirations of the TRS and MIM councillors. According to the Municipal Act, no no-confidence motion should be moved against the chairperson before four years of coming to power. The motion can be moved against the chairman or chairperson only four years after coming to power.

In the case, Sunita Sampath came to power only one and half years ago stepping into the shoes ofher predecessor Vijayalakshmi of TRS who had ruled the municipality for two and half years as part of a power-sharing agreement with the MIM.

Official sources ruled out any scope for moving the no-confidence motion against the Sunita Sampath. Talking to The Hans India, Sunita Sampath said that she was aware of the fact that there was no scope for moving the no-confidence motion against her.

Some TRS and MIM leaders created confusion among the councilors to meet their selfish goals, she said. She said that she reposed full faith in the councilors and said that she always remained in touch with them on developmental aspects of the town. She said that she would be able to forge ahead with the full cooperation of the public.
