Parigi:  Stage has been set for recruitment of Anganwadi teachers, mini anganwadi teachers and ayahs as these posts in respect of 27 Anganwadi centres have remained vacant for long. In Parigi Assembly constituency, there are 213 Anganwadi centres working in nine sectors spread across Doma, Kulkacharla and Parigi mandals. Total number of children below six years of age enrolled in them is 13,524.

Over 150 applications were received for the post of five anganwadi worker posts. Even graduates have applied for the Anganwadi teacher posts in 27 Anganwadi centers. Following a notification issued by the authorities, a flood of applications have been received.  In fact, 86 have applied for posts of workers in mini Anganwadis and 75 applied for 10 the post of ayah. In rural areas, integrated child development scheme gained prominence. The scheme plays a crucial role in providing nutritious food to children. Therefore, more and more persons have started availing services of Anganwadi centers.

Non availability of Anganwadi workers in many centers has affected the health of the mother and child.  Officials have identified at least 250 persons suffering from nutritional deficiency in four mandals.  The officials have completed recruiting the Anganwadi workers in respect of 20 Anganwadi centers. In respect of seven centers, there were no qualified candidates. Authorities who filtered the applications forwarded the file to the District Collector Omar Jaleel.  He is yet to affix his signature on the relevant file.

After putting the signature, appointment orders would be issued to the successful candidates.  Over 4045 children are being given Balamrutam, a nutritional supplement. Similarly, 1285 pregnant women and 1425 lactating mothers are being provided with nutritious lunch. For want of Anganwadi workers, the Arogya Lakshmi scheme could not be implemented effectively.

However, the officials have taken up the remedial measures and asking the Anganwadi workers to pay special attention to the health of villagers. Several have been appealing to the authorities to intensify inspections blaming them to be not punctual in their functioning. They also appeal to authorities to fill the vacancies of Anganwadi supervisors.
