Boost to jute bag

Secunderabad: The ban on plastic came as a boost for the jute manufacturers to make innovations in order to bring the customer into their fold. It has just been a month, the Greenknit, centre for jute bags,  started the business of selling handmade jute bags at Sainikpuri. It has come up with the sale of innovative multiple use jute bag. This jute bag having six pockets can meet the purpose of customers purchasing various vegetables and groceries.

The jute bags are being sold to corporate houses, super markets and stores. The Greenknit that has been promoting the jute bags to eliminate plastic product in the city so as to improve the degrading environment is working in collaboration with MAKS Enterprises which manufactures jute bags having around 85 women employees.

Sridevi, founder of the organization, said, “The bag is of multiple use that costs around Rs 200 each on purchase of a lot of 50 bags, and the price is Rs 250 per bag for a lot of 20 bags. The bag can carry items up to 20 kg.” The bag would be useful to carry vegetables and groceries all at once. She said that there were plans to launch more new forms of bags in near future. “We expecting a rise in demand after the plastic ban. We are in need of more manpower to reach out with aggressive awareness campaigns and sell the product to observe green planet,” she adds.
