GHMC Commissioner reviews status of ‘Basti Dawakhanas’

Hyderabad: Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner B Janardhan Reddy along with Addl. Commissioners, Sikta Patnaik, Bhaskara Chary held a review meeting on the status of Basti Dawakhanas at GHMC Head Office on Monday.

Janardhan instructed the officials to coordinate among the AMOHs, State Programme Health Officers and District Programme Officers in identifying the places for providing Basti Dawakhana in their respective areas and also to submit the alternative proposals. Apart from selecting Community Halls where no halls are available they should give options on private buildings so that the facilities can be provided.

Further they were instructed while submitting the proposals they should also see if there was any issue on the community halls or private buildings along with the objections if any by July 25. In phase I, 30 Basti Dawakhanas are proposed, in phase II, 26 and in phase III, 27 have been proposed totalling 83, out of which 17 Basti Dawakhanas were functioning. AMOHs of GHMC, Executive Engineers, Programme Health Officers and other senior officials attended the meeting.
