Lal Darwaza Bonalu celebrations from July 26 in Hyderabad

Laldarwaza: The annual Bonalu festivities at 110-year-old at Simhavahini Sri Mahankali Temple will commence from Friday. The famous temple of Mahankali has been spruced up for the upcoming festivities, with the close coordination of all departments which left no stone unturned as part of preparations.

Speaking to media persons, chairman P Y Kailash Veer and General Secretary, B Maruthi Yadav informed that all the customs which were being followed would continue this year. The Navaratri festivities which will start on Friday will continue for next 11 days.

On August 6, the procession will be taken along the designated route following all the customs till its conclusion at Delhi Darwaza. “We are happy that the State government has promised to take up some initiative to help organise the annual fete by expanding the temple. Following the formation separate Telangana the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao visited the temple, but the implementation of it still remains on paper. At least in the near future, the government will consider and fulfill its promises,” rued the organizers.  

Each year devotees throng Simhavahini Sri Mahankali Temple not only from different parts of the City but from nearby districts. Pilgrims from states like Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra and other States also attend the grandeur of Bonalu festivaties and its splendid procession.
