Drinking water leakage at Balanagar metro station irks commuters
Balanagar: The drinking water leakage at Balanagar Metro station irked the residents and commuters. Though there are number of complaints regarding the issue, no action has been taken yet. The west areas of the city have been facing civic issues every day like potholes, water pipe leakage or the bad roads. Recently, there was massive water leakage at Kukatpally main bus stop and now followed by Balanagar.
The residents of Balanagar said there should be no further delay and authorities need to check the condition of existing pipelines and fix the leakage. Telangana government is spending crores of rupees on advertising for saving water. Even if the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) is promoting about water saving like ‘Water is precious every drop is countable’ but officials are nowhere to immediate reaction about the water leakage in the city, another resident said.
The roads are severely affected because of the water leakage and it is causing inconvenience for the residents and office-goers. Several complaints are given to Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) officials, and the residents are irked with no response from the officials. Regular commuters who use metro where seen frustrated with the drinking water leakage at the Balanagar metro station.
Social activist Shaik Salauddin said, “The flow of drinking water leakage increased today in the morning, the residents and I have been complaining to the officials regularly but they have not turned up for the issue yet.”
The present drainage system is so defective if it is broken area would become the collection of small lakes and pools. The clogging of rain-water in some of these parts of the city becomes as deep as three feet. Consequently, the whole traffic is dislocated and life comes to a grinding halt during rains, he added. Regular pedestrian said, “It is really disappointing when all the areas people have been complaining to the officials about the issue but there is no response from them. Balanagar to the exiting road of Metro we can only find water is everywhere.”
