Stop destruction of podu lands: Left activists

 Musheerabad: Activists of the Left parties on Thursday took out a rally from Narayanaguda to Sundarayya Vignana Kendram demanding immediate cessation of destruction of podu lands and comprehensive implementation of Forest Rights Act.

Later, addressing a convention, secretaries of CPI and CPI(M) Chada Venkat Reddy and Tammineni Veerabhadram respectively accused the TRS government of terrorising girijans and adivasis in the name of Haritha Haram by destroying crops in thousands of acres. The two leaders alleged that crores of rupees was being wasted in the name of Haritha Haram, while demanding the government to give to people details of the funds spent on the scheme.

They also alleged that adivasis were being lathi-charged and jailed while accusing the government of depriving girijans of lands after promising them to allot three acres. The leaders accused the Central and the State governments of Tripura and West Bengal of resorting to attacks on communists, while following anti-people’s policies. They called for a united struggle against such policies.
