Musi river project-affected to be rehabilitated at Vambay, JNNURM

 Hyderabad: As part of Musi River Beautification project, people who have been staying close to the embankments of Musi will be rehabilitated in the Valmiki Ambedkar Awaas Yojana (Vambay) or Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM). 

During a review meeting with the officials in Begumpet, Minister for MA & UD, K T Rama Rao asked the officials to ensure that the poor staying near Musi river should not be affected due to the Musi Rejuvenation project. He asked the officials to ensure that they are rehabilitated following enumeration of encroachments on the banks of the river and to come up with a report in this regard. During the meeting he asked the officials to ensure that those who will be affected will be rehabilitated in housing schemes of Central government like Vambay or JNNURM. 

The Minister also asked the officials to ensure that no further encroachments take place near the river and to ensure this CCtv cameras are installed in vulnerable spots, beside setting up of warning boards to deter encroachers. During the meeting he informed that International agencies were already coming up with designs on Musi Beautification. 

He asked the officials to ensure developmental works and clearance of accumulated garbage and waste, besides focusing on beatification. He asked different departments to work in close coordination towards ensuring that the scheme materialises. The meeting was attended by Mayor, Bonthu Rammohan, Principal Secretary, Arvind Kumar and officials of GHMC, HMDA and Hyderabad Collector.
