Secunderabad: Green Seva Foundation, Nallakunta, near the Fever Hospital, under its Green Echo Project, is manufacturing two and three-wheelers battery vehicles which are pollution free. Cycles for children are also available. They use field gel battery. There will be no need for replacing the battery for 27,000 km. Hundreds of models of these vehicles are available which don’t require licence, registration and maintenance cost.

Designer of Go Green Vehicles Venkatesh Gupta told The Hans India that the Government of India has permitted these vehicles, which can be re-charged using a cell phone battery, under the mechanised cycle category. Costing between Rs 35,000 and Rs 1 lakh, they can be also run on solar power. Once charged for four hours, these vehicles cover a distance of 40 km, each of which costs only ten paise. The cost will be equivalent to consumption of 0.5 unit.

In the case of three-wheelers 48 wolts/100 vh. 12-20 am battery charging will be required. These vehicles consume 1-2 units of electricity, for covering 100-150 km. They can carry weight ranging from 500-2,000 kg. Their mileage will depend on the weight and can be re-charged with lithium ion battery in just 15 minutes. The three-wheelers are available in domestic and industrial models.

The foundation has set up 15 re-charge points at many places in the City, of the proposed 150. Gupta said these vehicles to be manufactured in Telangana would be introduced shortly in Kerala. He stated that the battery-operated vehicles were being made by Vasavi Wheels in support of the Swachh Bharat Mission. He recalled that when he met Prime Minister Narendra Modi for extending support to the project the PMO had stated that he should come out with a proper presentation.
