CPM, BLF demand shifting on Civil Supplies godowns from Ramnagar

Musheerabad: A delegation of the CPI(M) and Bahujan Left Front (BLF) on Wednesday toured Achayyanagar locality in Ramnagar division to look into the problem posed by insects in rice (‘lakka purugulu’). The leaders visited several houses and talked to residents to assess the seriousness of the issue.

CPM State Executive Committee member BG Narasimha Rao told The Hans India that the problem arose because to the proximity of the locality to the Civil Supplies department warehouses. He demanded immediate shifting of the godowns, while accusing officials of failing totally in meeting the minimum needs of the area residents.

Residents informed the leaders that they had not been able to spot the insects in food items being consumed daily.  They stated that children were the worst sufferers and developing problems in nose, eyes and ears. The residents appealed for immediate shifting of the godowns and save their children from health issues. Among those who visited the locality were BLF leaders Dasarath, G Ramulu, Venkataswamy, Harishankar and Venkatayya.
