Kasturba schools receive good number of admissions
Tandur: Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidlayas (KGBVs) in the division are registered good number of admissions in the present academic year. Thanks to the better facilities and improved pass percentage. The KGBVs were established to provide education to dropouts, poor and orphan girls.
By providing hygienic food and quality education, KGBVs at Peddemul (223), Yalal (212), Bashirabad (226) and Tandur (214) running with more number of students. Apart from this a college also opened at KGVB, Tandur from present academic year and 66 students took admission. Vocational courses also included in school curriculum, and it is also one of the reasons that attract parents to join their wards.
District girl-child development officer Vasundhara told The Hans India that they are creating homely atmosphere in the schools. Apart from distributing notebooks and uniforms, non-vegetarian food is being served to the students weekly once, she explained. Vasundhara said that eight CCTV cameras installed in every school as part of protection to the girl students.
