50-bedded Malkajgiri hospital to be inaugurated tomorrow
Malkajgiri: The inauguration of much-awaited 50-bedded government hospital has been postponed again. The officials said the hospital would be opened on Wednesday to mark the Independence Day.
But, even after the inauguration, the residents of Malkajgiri are left with no option but to wait for a month to avail medical treatment for serious health issues as the 50-bedded government hospital is still not equipped with required infrastructure to treat major diseases. “For now, only general treatment could be availed, and it would take at least a month’s time for the hospital to provide all district medical services,” say hospital officials.
“Initially, as per the rules, the hospital needs just six doctors with sufficient medical equipment but later, when GO 179 was implemented, the working structure of the hospital was changed. According to GO 179, there is a necessity to upgrade the hospital with 15 doctors and increase the number of staff members besides infrastructure,” says G Raju, in-charge and ENT specialist.
As of now, 15 doctors were recruited but the recruitment of close to 40 staff members is still pending. The medical equipment that help doctors to test orthopedics, cardiac arrest, dental problems, radiology, HIV, gynaecologic problems etc are yet to be installed. According to officials, all the district medical services will be given here and it would take one month’s time for it. The birth, death and physically handicap certificates will also be given here. It would benefit 20 lakh people in Malkajgiri division and there is no need to rush to Gandhi Hospital.
