Nacharam: Transformers alongside the roads in residential and industrial areas of Nacharam are posing threat to the people. As they are installed at a lesser height without fencing, locals feared to move on the roads.

At some places, fuse boxes are open without shutters is also a cause of concern. The case is different when one looks in to the localities like Kartikeyanagar, Raghavendranagar and ward office. Though there is no problem with the transformers as they are installed at a higher level, the electricity wires are hanging at a low height posing threat to the colony residents.

One of the residents, Narsing Rao said that children face danger as they anywhere unaware of the transformer wires. He demanded officials to arrange fencing with immediate effect. Recently, a buffalo died near a transformer without a fence in an industrial area. When contacted, assistant engineer Premnath said that they identified the dangerous ones in the colonies and were planning to provide fences to them at the earliest.
