Fire safety certificates must for bars, pubs, hotels

Hyderabad: All the owners of the bars, pubs and restaurants should strictly follow the prescribed rules for obtaining Fire Safety Certificate from the Director, Disaster Management Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) by downloading the application form from the GHMC website before August 30, said Bonthu Rammohan, GHMC Mayor.

A review meeting held at the GHMC head office by Rammohan, B Janardhan Reddy, Commissioner GHMC, Viswajeeth Kampati, Director, Vigilance and Disaster Management Cell along with the owners of the bars, pubs and restaurants on Monday. Rammohan also said that, it was a very simple form which can be filled easily giving all necessary information in the prescribed proforma after application scrutiny and verification of plans by the Disaster Management field inspections would be taken up by the concerned teams and would explain about the precautionary measures to be taken for fire safety measures in their respective business establishments. Those who failed to obtain the fire safety certificate will be viewed seriously as per the rules.

Janardhan said the meeting was conducted to have a clear understanding about the procedures to be adopted for obtaining the fire safety certificate in the interest of the citizen’s safety. He also added that approximate cost of firefighting equipment for 1,000 sq mt area of the floor will be approximately from Rs. 30,000 to 50,000. Every owner must apply for the application for the fire safety certificate before 30 th of this month failing which the business establishments Bars/Pubs/Restaurants etc., will be seized without any further notice.

Viswajeeth Kampati, Director, Vigilance and Disaster Management Cell gave a power point presentation that how to obtain the application form from website and appealed the owners to create awareness among their associations to apply for the fire safety measures to prevent any untoward fire accidents in the near future.
