Prem Nagar takes up novel way of protest
Prem Nagar: With many complaints falling on deaf ears at Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC),the residents of Prem Nagar took a novel wayof agitation against the issue, they have been holding a fishing protest on the water-logged roads for the past two days ago. The aggrieved residents have been complaining on the issue for more than a month, but the authorities did not turn up to solve their issue hence the residents took the matter seriously and decided for the novel protest.
The residents alleged that because of thebad roads, the school buses have stopped dropping the students at the home, instead they were being dropped a kilometer away and the parents were equally upset because of these roads. All complaints are going in vain. The auto- rickshaws and cabs do not even show up in the emergency conditions. Booking a cab gets cancelled easily. They further said that the roads are poorly maintained by the GHMC and after the continuous rain the situation has become worse.
No officials have heard our problem instead they avoid them. President of the Prem Nagar A&B Colony Welfare Association, Ahmed Iftekar said, “That the colony is aiming to carry out a non-violent protest on Independence Day also, the areacorporator did not pay any concernto their demands which urge them to take this extreme protest measure.” Sheik Ahmed participating in the issue said, “We knew that officials would not take any action on this issue thus, all the residents decided to take the issue in their hands.” Fishing on the streets in the waterlogged road was the idea taken by us. They should also realise that it is not easy to walk a kilo meter road every day, he adds.
