Over 3,000 transferred teachers yet to get full wages
Rangareddy: Over 3000 of the 4,127 government teachers who have been transferred in July are facing difficulties as they received only a part of their salary in August. As a result, the teachers have been facing difficulties at their new place of posting. Some of them are borrowing money from others to sustain their bank loans and taking hand loan from fellow teachers to keep their head above water. Normally teachers get paid on the first of every month. But even by 21st of August they received only a portion of their wages for the period they had worked in the previous place of posting.
In fact, over 7, 167 have applied online seeking transfer, but the government transferred only 4,127. While school assistants have been transferred on July 8, others have been transferred in phases on July 12. Of them schools assistants constituted 1,348, SGTs constituted 1,350. Others who have been transferred are language pundits (315) and PETs (86). The very next day of their transfer, they have resumed their duty at the new place. The school assistants at the new place have to get 23 days’ wages and SGT and other cadres should get wages for 19 days.
However, 1150 teachers got their full wages two or three days ago leaving 3000 odd transferred teachers, who are yet to get full wages. The drawing and disbursement officers have to submit relevant salary bills to the district treasury on time. The treasury takes up wage bills from 3rd to 12th of every month again from 20th to 25th. The treasury takes care of other bills from 12th to month-end. In case the employees get transferred in the middle of the month, they have to submit their last pay certificates to the treasury. The delay is attributed to the delay in submission of the certificates.
Some drawing and disbursement officers have submitted the salary bills prior to 12th but the salary was not credited into the teachers’ accounts. The teachers should have been settled at the new place of posting, but they are facing problems for want of money as their wages have not been credited into the bank accounts. Some teachers are shuttling between the old place of posting and the new place of posting. This has increased their expenditure.
