Residents irked over non-functioning of street lights
BHEL Township: The local residents of the BHEL Township Phase-I are irked over the non-functioning of the street lights. It has been for weeks that the street lights are not working. Residents alleged that though there were many representations to Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) officials, no one turned up to resolve the problem.
The residents said that not only this problem but also there were several civic issues which are causing inconvenience to residents including potholes, drinking water shortage. The problem has been raised to the Electrical Engineer concerned but nothing has been improved. The locals are frightening that due to absence of street lights, there is a chance of anti social activities in the area.
Venkatesh Alwala, a resident of BHEL, said, “We have complained many times to the GHMC officials about the issue, but there is no improvement. Women are getting scared to go out in the night time. The women who are working are also getting inconvenience while taking this route to home.”
Durga IT employee said, “We should have at least one more light in our street. We are from the same area but different lane of the Phase- 1. This would also make our entire street brightly lit which will make us safe from thieves and other anti-social elements.” GHMC officials said, “We have received the complaint of non-functioning of street lights at Phase-I. The GHMC team will get back there and fix the street light. If there is some other problems at the area will also be solved soon.
