Empowering youth through elocutions, essay-writing competitions

Hyderabad: Vaaradhi, a voluntary organisation is serving as a platform that brings together various resources (human and material) from diverse sources: the government, voluntary organizations, like-minded civil society institutions, and committed individuals, academic and technical institutions. 

Vaaradhi Foundation has been conducting state-level competitions in elocution (on politically contemporary subjects) and essay-writing (on a current topic of interest in the field of economics) for the 10th, 11th and 12th standard students from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, including the tribal areas. These competitions have been held in the last five years. Awards were being presented to the winners in annual functions. 

This year, the preliminary rounds were conducted in 41 centres and the winners will be called to Hyderabad for the finals and the award function. The award function will be conducted at Ravindra Bharati on September 30 from 10 am to 7 pm. In addition, eminent persons known for their significant contribution in the social, political and economic spheres will address the students, as a measure of inspiration and guidance.

Cultural exchange programmes within the country have been organized for the winners in the last three years to enable the nurturing of a sense of belonging to the country through exposure to diverse cultures and socio-economic environments.

 In 2014, the students visited Hubli, Karnataka. In 2017 they went to Agra, Mathura and Delhi, and in 2018, Shimla, Manali and Chandigarh would will be the destinations. Vaaradhi, in the coming years, to diversify and expand its activities in other spheres, spelt out in the aims and objectives in its brochure. 

Vaaradhi wishes to take this opportunity to express its heartfelt thanks to the donors who, over the last few years, have so generously supported its activities - particularly Radiant Cables, through its Managing Director, Ashok Kundalia, the state governments of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, as also the District Collectors, District Educational Officers and the District Public Relation Officers of both the states for their ready and willing cooperation in making its effort successful.
