SI Renuka Reddy: From agriculture background to best SI

Tandur: Renuka Reddy’s story explains her grit and determination. Hailing from an ordinary agriculture family, she defied all odds to become a Sub-Inspector. Her devotion and commitment towards profession earned her fame and she received best SI award in the Vikarabad district. 

The path she travelled was riddled with many hurdles. As a child she was moved by the struggle of her parents to run the family. She decided to join government services and help her parents. Her persistence and perseverance made her to achieve her goal. 

Hailing from Nirjapla village of Sangareddy district, Renuka was always wanted to support her parents Vithal Reddy, Tejamma, who had been taking pains for their daughter’s education. Renuka completed her primary, higher, Inter and graduation in government institutions and did post graduation from Osmania University. As soon as she finished her PG, she immediately joined in a private college as a lecturer to extend financial support to her family. While preparing for competitive examination, she got selected for SI in a first attempt.

After a vigorous training at Andhra Pradesh Police Academy, she joined in Vikarabad women’s police station. After working at Shankarapally, now she is at Karankot police station. She has been successfully implementing friendly policing and always extending help to victims apart from safeguarding and maintaining law and orders. Her relentless services won her best SI award in the district. She received the award from the hands of Minister Mahender Reddy during Independence Day celebrations held at district headquarters in Vikarabad. 

Sharing some of her achievements as a police officer, she explained how she cracked some tough cases. An idol was destroyed in an ancient temple in Siriguri forest area and some excavation was carried in the temple for hidden treasure. According to her, no clues were there, and investigation became difficult. “When I tried from other angle and questioned shepherds about any suspicious movements of new faces, we got the lead,” she said. 

In another interesting case, there was a robbery in a house. She started investigation without any clue. Finally, it was found that the man who complained about the robbery was the main culprit. Renuka said she was much satisfied with case. Apart from solving typical cases, sheactively involving containing the crime rate in the places she worked.
