The African Schindler’s List at Lamakaan

As part of a program, ‘Celebrating Biopics and Autobiographies Based on Real Life Personalities,’ Cinephiles Film Club is screening a film, ‘Hotel Rwanda’ on December 19 at Lamakaan at 7pm.

The film is based on the Rwandan genocide, which occurred during the spring of 1994. It is also called as African Schindler's List, and it documents Rusesabagina's acts to save the lives of his family, and more than a thousand other refugees by providing them with shelter in the besieged Hotel Des Mille Collins. Paul Rusesabagina, who manages a hotel, houses over a thousand Tutsi refugees during their struggle against the Hutu militia in Rwanda.
