Govt takes up study to boost farm income
Tandur: The State government in an attempt to boost the income of farmers has undertaken a survey to procure almost 30 various details pertaining to land. The survey will be conducted by the agriculture and the horticulture departments jointly.
Officials have already identified that there are total of 2,25,000 farmers in the district. The survey is intended to know the feasibility of food processing units and crop colonies in the state. Based on this survey, they can decide which crops should be cultivated and in which season. The farmers in the district are mainly cultivating paddy, groundnut, cotton, Bengal gram. The government wants to utilise the services of DRDA and Revenue departments, if needed.
As part of the survey, officials will collect passbook number, farmer name, father name, date of birth, mobile number, bank account details, total land in possession and survey number details. They would find out the type of crops cultivated in 2018-19 Rabi season and how much produce they yielded, what the farmers wish to cultivate in 2019 Kharif and also about the types of equipment being used to cultivate.
District Agriculture Officer Gopal said that state government has already issues instructions regarding the integrated survey through video conference. “We need to print about 2,50,000 survey forms in the district. Guidelines will be provided soon. This survey is mainly intended to help raise the income of farmers.”
