Rangareddy: The newly launched PM Kisan Nidhi Yojana, an assured income support scheme for farmers with small land holdings, has been the talk of the villages ever since it has been launched. An amount of Rs 6,000 will be deposited in the beneficiary’s accounts in three phases. The Central government has released the guidelines to implement the scheme. It will take a few more days to identify the actual beneficiaries of the scheme.

Meanwhile, agriculture department officials are busy checking the data they have with them. They feel that the identification of beneficiaries will become easy during the conduct ‘Gram Sabhas.’

There are almost 2.13 lakh farmers with holdings of fewer than five acres. But as per guidelines, those who are paying income tax or have lands in the name of organisations or receiving pension more than Rs 10,000 are entitled to the income support scheme. Considering all these issues, it is learned that the number of beneficiaries will drastically come down. It is learned that Rs 257 crore has been distributed to 2, 47,449 farmers as part of the ‘Rythu Bandhu’ by the TRS government Some farmers are, however, yet to take cheques. They are still lying with the officials. The agriculture department has come to the conclusion that there is a total of 2.64 lakh passbook holding farmers in the state. The new survey to be taken up will be conducted based on this information.
