Upa sarpanches demand power to issue cheques

 Parigi: Upa Sarpanch Association honorary president M Venkataiah on Monday demanded joint cheque power with sarpanches. Addressing a press conference here, he said that under Telangana Panchayat Raj Act-2018, the state government provided joint cheque power to both sarpanches and upa sarpanches. He said that according to the above act, the government should release a GO to bring the cheque power into effect. He said that upa sarpanches play a major role in developing panchayats and that training should be given to them also. He warned of a state-wide agitation if their demands were not met.
