Washington D.C.: United States President Donald Trump, on Monday, condemned the Federal Bureau of Investigation's (FBI) raids on his long-serving personal lawyer and confidant Michael Cohen's office in New York City, calling it a "political witch hunt" and "an attack on our country".

The raid, which was conducted by the U.S. Attorney's office, reportedly in part due to a referral made by the office of Special Counsel Robert Mueller, involved seizures of documents with information pertaining to Stephanie Clifford, a.k.a. Stormy Daniels, from the office, with Trump calling the entire exercise a "disgrace".

"It's an attack on our country in a true sense," he said. "It's an attack on what we all stand for."

Trump also pondered on thoughts of firing the Special Counsel, saying, "Why don't I just fire Mueller? Well, I think it's a disgrace what's going on - we'll see what happens."

However, according to Justice Department regulations, the 45th POTUS cannot himself oust Mueller. Although he could order Rod Rosenstein, The United States Deputy Attorney General to remove the special counsel.

The regulations also specify that Mueller can only be removed for "misconduct, dereliction of duty, incapacity, conflict of interest or for other good cause" including violation of Justice Department policies.
