PM Modi arrives in Kathmandu
Kathmandu : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday arrived in Kathmandu after attending the civic reception in the ancient and religious city of Janakpur.
He was received by Foreign Minister Pradeep Gyawali at the airport.Prime Minister Modi will now head to Hotel Hyatt Regency in the city, where he is staying during the course of the Prime Minister's two-day visit to Nepal.Prime Minister Modi will be conferred with a guard of honour in the Tundikhel ground, near the army headquarters at around 4 pm (local time).
After receiving the guard of honour, the Prime Minister will call on Nepali Vice-President Nanda Bahadur Pun at the Bahadur Bhawan and will head for Shital Niwas to meet Nepali President Bidhya Devi Bhandari.
The meeting with the President and the Vice President will be followed by bilateral talks between the two Prime Ministers. Prime Minister Oli will be hosting a dinner in the honour of his Indian counterpart.
On Saturday morning, Prime Minister Modi will be heading for Muktinath temple in Mustang District followed by prayers at Pashupatinath Temple in the capital.The Muktinath Temple, lying on the height of 3,710 meters from the sea level is expected to have enough visibility during the early hours of Saturday.
"Partly cloudy, however, there are chances of becoming generally cloudy towards afternoon and late afternoon with an isolated brief rain or thundershower or snow (Muktinath)", the Meteorological Forecasting Division of Nepal stated in its forecast bulletin.
After the visit to the temples, Prime Minister Modi is expected to engage with political leaders of various parties. He will attend the civic reception hosted by the mayor of Kathmandu and then depart for India on Saturday evening.
Prime Minister Modi arrived at the city of Janakpur on Friday at around 10:45 am (local time).He was received by Prime Minister Oli after which Prime Minister Modi performed puja at the Ram Janaki Temple and flagged off the shuttle bus service linking Janakpur and Ayodhya.
