Singapore summit has been shelved

Update: 2018-05-25 20:43 IST

A summit was planned between the US President, Donald Trump and the leader of North Korea, Kim Jong-un, on June 12 in Singapore, but due to the recent volley of arguments over Twitter between the respective governments, the summit has been shelved.

The cause of the arguments being the remarks made by Pence stating that any agreement made by the US to North Korea would follow the Libyan model, which ended in death of the then leader of Libya by a lynch mob after the country denuclearized.

This has caused anger on North Korea’s end, causing them to release several statements over Twitter which were quite threatening towards Pence and the US government.

In response to these statements, the White House has tweeted a letter to the North Korean leader stating that due to the anger displayed by the North Korean government in the recent tweets, the summit would not be taking place.

Ironically, the North Korean government has already completed one of it’s pledges to destroy it’s main nuclear test site and an American advance team had already been sent to Singapore to prepare for the summit.
