London [UK]: A British man on Wednesday was found guilty of plotting an assassination attack on Prime Minister Theresa May at her Downing Street residence.

The man, Naa'imur Zakariyah Rahman, 20, was convicted at the Old Baily court for committing an act of terrorism.

Rahman, who has been on trial from past few months, revealed to the police officers of assassinating the prime minister in May in an Islamic State (IS)-inspired attack, Anadolu News Agency reported.

In November last year, he was arrested after he told undercover officers that he was planning to launch an assault at Downing Street and was provided with explosives and a suicide vest.

Apart from Rahman, Mohammed Aqib Imran, 22, was also found guilty after a terrorist handbook was recovered from him earlier, as per the report.

Rahman told the court that he motivated Imran to join the IS in Libya.

It should be noted that Britain recently suffered a spate of terror attacks last year.
