Gutha, Komati at political crossroads

Update: 2018-01-06 06:04 IST

Nalgonda: Nalgonda MP Gutha Sukender Reddy and MLA Komatireddy Venkat Reddy are facing a bizarre situation with recent political developments in TRS and Congress parties respectively. Political analysts opined that both Gutha and Komati are at political junction and finding ways to survive in their parties.

It may be recalled that at the time of shifting loyalties, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had assured Gutha of a Minister post. However, the idea was dropped after calculating the pros and cons of byelection to Nalgonda Parliamentary seat. Later, Gutha was made the State coordinator of Rythu Samanvaya Samithi (RSS), which is equal to cabinet rank.

Gutha was inducted into several district and state committees of the Samithi. However, he is yet to get the post of a Minister. Further, it is learnt that the Chief Minister had reportedly directed Gutha to bring TDP Nalgonda constituency in-charge Kancharla Bhoopal Reddy, who had given tough competition to sitting Congress MLA Komatireddy Venkat Reddy in 2014 elections, into party fold.

But Gutha had not taken any active step towards it due to political rivalry with Bhoopal Reddy, whose native place is same that of Gutha.  Ultimately, operation Aakarsh was carried out by Minister Jagadish Reddy. Moreover, Gutha has political differences with Minister Jagadish Reddy too.

Meanwhile, Bhoopal Reddy after joining TRS, to prove himself, has played a key role in making his mentor and TDP senior leader Alimineti Uma Madhava Reddy and her son and Bhongir TDP president Sandeep Reddy switch loyalties to the pink party.

After joining of Uma Madhava Reddy, the political graph of Bhoopal Reddy had increased considerably, whereas the graph of Gutha reportedly nose-dived due to negative campaign taken up by the MP rivals. Similar is the situation of sitting Nalgonda Congress MLA Komatireddy Venkat Reddy. While on one side he is facing stiff resistance from Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee chief Uttam Kumar Reddy and other senior leaders in Erstwhile Nalgonda, on the other joining of Bhoopal Reddy in TRS has mounted more pressure on him.

Komati, who earlier used to pitch for TPCC president and CM posts from the Congress party, however, due to recent developments, is now confining himself to Nalgonda constituency and trying to protect the cadre and working towards retaining his seat in next elections too.
