Special committees for implementation of mid-day meals scheme formed

Khammam: District Collector DS Lokesh Kumar ordered the officials of departments concerned to take all necessary measures for proper implementation of mid-day meals scheme here on Monday. The Collector chaired a review meeting on the implementation of mid-day meals scheme in government schools with officials of concerned departments here at Collectorate conference hall in Khammam on Monday.

Speaking at the meeting, the  Collector ordered the officials to take necessary steps for providing a balanced diet with fine rice to the students studying in government schools under mid-day meals scheme without giving any scope for irregularities.

The State government formed a district committee for perfect implementation of the mid-day meals scheme in the government schools. The Committee headed by the District Collector as a chairman will meet on every second week in a month at district level and at the mandal level the committee headed by Tahsildar will meet every first week in a month, informed the Collector.

The District Education Officer will be Convenor of the committee at District-level and the District Joint Collector as Vice-chairman along with Project Director of DRDA, District Civil Supply officer, Manager of Civil Supply Corporation, Deputy Director of Social Welfare department, District Tribal Welfare Officer, and District BC Welfare officer as members. At mandal-level Mandal Education Officer will be Convenor of the Committee with MPDO, Mandal Resource persons, Deputy Tahsildars as members, added the Collector.
