Khammam: Secretary of All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) Gade Lakshminarayana demanded the government to regularise the services of Anganwadi, mid-day meals, ASHA, NHM and Survashiksha Abhiyan workers.

Speaking at a meeting held with the workers under the leadership of the Ejjagiri here at Industrial Colony of Khanapuram in Khammam on Wednesday, Lakshminarayana said various types of schemes that are introduced for the welfare of people by both the State and Central governments were being perfectly implemented by the scheme workers of Anganwadi, mid-day meals, ASHA, NHM and Survashiksha Abhiyan.

It is the minimum responsibility of the government to recognise them as regular employees by considering their services. By enhancing the salary to Rs 18,000, other facilities like PF and ESI must be provided to them, he sought. The government must withdraw the decision of dissolving of schemes that are highly useful for many poor and downtrodden which might also affect all the scheme workers across the nation, he observed.

Later, the representatives of AITUC distributed pamphlets urging all the scheme workers to participate in large numbers in the nation-wide dharna to be held on January 17, and make it a grand success. The scheme workers Chiluka Radha, Annapurna, Katta Padama, Natti Padma, Yashoda, Manga, Nurse Padma, Uma, Lalitha, Hymavathi and Pushpavathi were present along with others.
