Khammam CITU opposes 100% FDI in retail sector

Khammam: The Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) opposed the Central government’s decision of introducing 100 per cent Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in retail sector.

In protest against the Centre’s move, the representatives of CITU burnt an effigy of Central government here in Khammam on Thursday. Addressing the representatives, CITU district leader Y Vikram said Bharatiya Janata Party strongly opposed FDI in retail sector when it was in opposition.

But now, after coming to power, the same party, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has taken the decision for introducing 100 per cent FDI in retail sector.

Stating that the decision was not in favour of consumer, farmer, trader, manufacturer and the country, he said many people who were doing small businesses through retail shops would be badly affected by the government’s move.

He demanded the government to withdraw its decision, lest they intensify the movement to teach the government a fitting lesson.

Union leaders Saidulu, Ramu, Pasha, Reddy, Upendar, Rajesh, Narra Ramesh, Machha Suryam, Bhumaiah, Bobbi, Gayatri, Sagar, Krishna and Hussain took part in the protest.
